  • Measuring tape (preferably steel type for accuracy)
  • Pen & paper or your phone to jot down measurements
  • A step ladder (if your windows are high)
  • Spirit level or phone level app (optional, for accuracy)

Step 1: Decide How You Want to Mount Your Curtain

There are two ways to hang curtains:

  • ✅ 1. Wall Mount (Most Common in Malaysia)

    Curtain track or rod is mounted above the window frame, usually 4 to 6 inches (10–15 cm) higher. This creates the illusion of taller ceilings.

  • ✅ 2. Ceiling Mount (Modern & Sleek Look)

    The track is mounted directly on the ceiling. This is popular for floor-to-ceiling glass doors or hotel-style interiors.

Step 2: Measure the Width of Your Window

A. Standard Windows:

Measure the full width of the window frame, from edge to edge.

📌 Add extra on both sides:

  • Add 10 to 20 cm on each side for better coverage and light blocking.
  • So if your window width is 120 cm, total width = 140 to 160 cm.

B. Curtain Rod or Track Already Installed?

Measure the total length of the rod or track, not just the window.

Step 3: Measure the Height (Drop)

This depends on your curtain style and where you want the curtain to end:

  • Width: Measure the full width of the glass panel or door opening. Add an extra 10–15 cm each side.
  • Height: Usually measured from the ceiling or track to the floor.
  • Consider if the curtain should split in the middle or pull to one side.
